The war on Christmas
According to the Huffington Post, there has been an ongoing war between happy holidays and Merry Christmas. The position that many priests and clergy take upon this is, Merry Christmas, because holiday means quite literally, holy day, which refers to the day of Christmas. So it is ridiculous to change it to happy holidays because it is the same thing and the reason that there is this season is because of Christmas. Also holidays means that there is more than one holiday. Even atheists celebrate Christmas, it may be for the wrong reasons but they do. And Hanukah is always changing dates, for it fell on thanksgiving this year. So it should remain Merry Christmas.

Freshman retreat 9/22
This weekend, Strake Jesuit freshman class of 2017 will have a retreat on campus. The motto of put on the armor of Christ is very suggestive towards the type of prayers about to be encountered. And the theme is find god through each other. Hopefully the freshman class of 2017 will not only become brothers, but find themselves closer to god than ever.

Lab Grown Food
The has been the development of lab grown synthetically proccessed beef. It has been grown through cow stem cells. Although, from a scientific perspective this is very interesting, t leads to the question if the will do the same for humans. As in trying to synthetically create a human. so it poses a interesting question for the church.

Priests accused of hiding in plain sight
So allegedly, there have been several instances saying that there are several retired priests in Rutherford, NJ accused of drugging and molesting teenage boys in the 70's and 80's. If these are not true the priests face serious false accusations, however if they are then, they one, May have ruined some teens lives and two hopefully that they do not make the church look bad. Government Pulls to a Halt
Over this past week the Republican Party had finally acted upon their urge to curb Obama care. In a sense the entire US government is trying to find a way to spend imaginary money. This poses a very curious question for the church, should there be universal health care? And if so should others have to pay for it? But these all relate back to the size and effect the government has on its people, so I myself think this is subjective.

Pope Francis opens up the church
Pope Francis had spoken such as he wants the curch to be more welcoming towards all. He wants all people to be able to worship. He mentioned women, divorced, and remarried and homosexuals to be more religious. this is good for God can be worshiped by all and should be and Pope Francis clearly knows this and is acting upon it.

Christians Driven out of Syrian cities
Twenty members of the Catholic faith were shot and killed by muslim Syrian rebels in an area originally deemed safe. In near-by cities those who follow the Christian faith have been driven out of their homes and possessions and have been threatened that if they return as Christians then they will be killed. it is known that all religions wish to share their faith with others, but mostly peacefully. in the modern times we live in most religions have been trying to spread their word more peacefully, but the same is not true for the Islamic extremists who try and force their beliefs upon others. this is not how God wishes to be worshiped. so we all pray and hope for those who live and are involved in the Syrian conflict.

Syria action
Obama has called for support of the houses of congress for the action that he has proposed action in Syria. this has been a very controversial issue between the two major parties and also between nations such as the United States and Russia and the U.K. any people have been praying for those in Syria under the thumb of their government, but now more pray for the fighting men and women in the armed forces if action is taken. So many are hoping that the world will find the hand of God and follow his will to the end.
